YuJa Content Management

Uploading Content - YuJa accepts a variety of media file types, including video, audio, images, and documents. Uploaded content may be shared with anyone, and the site is mobile-friendly.

Editing Existing Content - YuJa offers fully integrated video editing, accessible from the Media Library. Video editing allows content owners to create professional and polished media content, free from extraneous material. The Video Editor is non-destructive, and your edited video is saved as a new file, without damage to the original media. Editing tools include the ability to:

  • Trim and clip content.
  • Add a Watermark.
  • Incorporate additional video content or slides.
  • Add text overlays.
  • Edit Auto-captions and the Index.
  • Blur confidential or private information.

Managing Storage Space: Download & Delete ContentIf you're running short on space, you may download your recordings and delete the file off of the YuJa server. Deleting media removes it from both your Media Collection and any associated locations where it’s shared or published, but the downloaded file will be preserved. Deleted videos go to the YuJa Recycle Bin, where they will be permanently removed after 30 days.

Storage Quotas - Storage space is allocated according to a user's role:

  • Instructors are given 150 GB of total storage.
  • Students are given 10 GB of total storage.

Content Storage and Deletion

Downloading Your Media

YuJa allows you to download any of your videos from the My Media library. You may have two types of content in your folder: videos you captured using YuJa's recorder and/or videos you simply uploaded from your computer or elsewhere on the internet. Both types may be saved to your computer from the same Download menu, but the resulting file type may be different depending on how the video was created. To get started, log in to YuJa and follow these steps:

  • Navigate to Manage Media by clicking the link at the top of the YuJa window.
  • Mouse over the desired video. Click on More…
  • From the menu on the left of the window, click Downloads to view the download options for that video. The file types available to you depend on whether you captured or simply uploaded the file. See the next two sections for an overview of both.

Downloading Captured Content

To download videos you recorded using YuJa's webcam and screen-capture software, please follow these steps:

  • In the Download menu, select the radio button for Audio and Video Content, then click Download Media.
  • A pop-up will appear; you can opt for Separate Files or a Single File.
    • Separate Files will split presentation media into individual files. This is a good option if you'd like to preserve your screen and webcam as separate video files (handy for editing later).
    • Single File combines all streams into one file, allowing you to choose a primary video and view the other as a smaller picture-in-picture image (may be more conveinient to share and watch as one combined file).
  • Click Request Media. You’ll receive an email link when your file is ready to download.

Downloading Uploaded Content

Uploaded content can be downloaded much like a captured recording, but with slightly different file download options.

  • In the Download menu, select your desired file type from the following options:
    • Download Media - downloads the file in an MP4 format.
    • Download Original - downloads the file as it was first uploaded to the Platform.
    • Download Audio-Only Content - downloads a podcast version of the video, discarding any visuals.
    • Download HLS - downloads an HTTP Live Streaming video file.
    • Download SCORM - downloads a SCORM file (package compatible with Bb course sites).
  • When you click the desired file type, the download will begin automatically. You don't need to wait for an emailed link – the file should immediately save to your browser's download folder.
  • Click Save Downloads to confirm any changes or close the window to exit.

Deleting Media

You can delete media from the Media Library.

  • From Manage Media at the top of the screen, navigate to any folder in your Media Library.
  • Choose the desired video you wish to delete from your User Collection.
  • Mouse over the video and choose Delete from the thumbnail menu.
  • In the pop-up menu, confirm the file deletion by typing Confirm. Then click Yes to move the file to your Recycle Bin.
  • NOTE: The file will be preserved for 30 days, then is automatically deleted from the system. This is a safety feature to allow for recovery of accidentally deleted files. To free up space in your account immediately, you need to delete the file from your Recycle Bin, too. Please see the following section for more information.

Accessing the Recycle Bin

Deleted files are available in the individual user’s Recycle Bin, where they remain for 30 days before being permanently deleted from the server.

  • Navigate to My Account at the top of the screen.
Screenshot: YuJa > select My Account from dropdown menu

  • Select Recycle Bin.
Screenshot: YuJa > My Account > Recycle Bin menu

  • Hover over individual files and use the menu to Permanently Remove the file and free up space immediately. Note: the file cannot be recovered after this step. If a file was moved to the recycle bin by mistake, you can select Restore to send it back to your My Media folder. You can use the recycle bin / circle icon in the top-right to bulk delete/restore all content. Files left in your recycle bin will be automatically removed from the system in 30 days.

Storage Quotas

  • Instructors are given 150 GB of total storage.
  • Students are given 10 GB of total storage.

Although the storage quotas are in place, you will still be able to record beyond the quota and will not receive a notification when you exceed your quota.  At this time, the storage quotas are not enforced but are still in place in case they are needed in the future due to increased storage costs and other limitations.

To see how much storage you have remaining:
  • Log in to YuJa, and click on your profile image (in the upper-right menu bar). Click My Account.

my account drop down menu

  • This will bring you to your My Profile page. Hover over the menu (on the left side of the page) and it will expand. Click Storage Usage.

  • Your storage usage statistics will be displayed: total used, storage available, percentage used, and allotted storage quota. These statistics are updated nightly.

Clean up storage space:
  • Download your media files to local storage, and delete them from the YuJa server. They may be uploaded again when needed.
