The Video Editor provides the latest tools in in-browser editing for content recorded with Software Capture or the Hardware Hub, as well as uploaded content.

  • Use Split (film reel, under Advanced Mode) to create segments that may be re-arranged.

  • Click [CC] to open and edit associated captions.
  • Select Index (bulletted list, under Advanced Mode) to access and edit the Index.
  • Use Undo (leftward arrow) to remove your editing changes one-by-one.
  • Click on Insert Slide (looks like a retractable slide stand) to add a single PowerPoint slide, image, PDF, DOCX, or other file at the desired point in your video.
  • Choose Insert Video (video window with play arrow, under Advanced Mode) to insert a video clip into your edited video.
  • Use Text Overlay (letter 'A' icon) to add titles and supplemental information to your video.
Note: You can use keyboard shortcuts to access some frequently-used features.

For more information about using the Video Editor, along with an icon key, please see YuJa's help page. To view all of the available tools, please see YuJa's directory pages: overview, editing features, advanced options. YuJa also offers an image editor for non-video files.

Content Storage and Deletion

Download Your Media Files

YuJa allows you to download any of your videos from the My Media library. You may have two types of content in your folder: videos you captured using YuJa's recorder and/or videos you simply uploaded from your computer or elsewhere on the internet. Both types may be saved to your computer from the same Download menu, but the resulting file type may be different depending on how the video was created. To get started, log in to YuJa and follow these steps:

  • Select the Manage Media tab at the top of the YuJa window.
  • Mouse over the desired video anc choose More
  • From the menu on the left of the pop-up window, select Downloads to view the download options for that video. The file types available to you depend on whether you captured or simply uploaded the file. See the next two sections for an overview of both.

Download Captured Content

To download videos you recorded using YuJa's webcam and screen-capture software, please follow these steps:

  • In the Download menu, choose either Audio and Video file or Audio-Only file.
  • A pop-up will appear you can opt for Separate Files or aSingle File.
    • Separate Files will split presentation media into individual files. This is a good option if you'd like to preserve your screen and webcam as separate video files (handy for editing later).
    • Single File combines all streams into one file, allowing you to choose a primary video and view the other as a smaller picture-in-picture image (may be more conveinient to share and watch as one combined file).
  • Select Request Media. You’ll receive an email link when your file is ready to download.

Download Uploaded Content

Manually uploaded content can be downloaded much like a captured recording, but with slightly different file download options.

  • In the Download menu, select your desired file type from the following options (not all options may be available for any given video file):
    • Original Media File - downloads the file as it was first uploaded to the Platform.
    • Download SCORM - downloads a SCORM file (package compatible with Blackboard course sites).
    • Download with caption - downloads the file in an MP4 format with captions
    • Audio File Only  - downloads a podcast version of the video, discarding any visuals.
    • Download HLS - downloads an HTTP Live Streaming video file.
  • When you click the desired file type, the download will begin automatically. You don't need to wait for an emailed link – the file should immediately save to your browser's download folder.
  • Select Save Downloads to confirm any changes or close the window to exit.

Delete Media

You can delete media from the Media Library labeled My Media in your account.

  • In the pop-up menu, confirm the file deletion by typing Confirm. Then, select Yes to move the file to your Recycle Bin.
  • NOTE: The file will be preserved for 30 days, then is automatically deleted from the system. This is a safety feature to allow for recovery of accidentally deleted files. To free up space in your account immediately, you need to delete the file from your Recycle Bin, too. Please see the following section for more information.

Access the Recycle Bin

Deleted files are available in your account’s Recycle Bin, where they remain for 30 days before being permanently deleted from the server.

  • Media can be permanently deleted to free up storage space or restored if still needed by accessing the Recycle Bin in your account.

Storage Quotas

  • Instructors are allotted 150 GB of total storage.
  • Students are allotted 10 GB of total storage.

Although the storage quotas are in place, you will still be able to record beyond the quota and will not receive a notification when you exceed your quota.  At this time, the storage quotas are not enforced but are still in place in case they are needed in the future due to increased storage costs and other limitations.

To see how much storage you have remaining:

  • Log in to YuJa, and click on your profile image (in the upper-right menu bar).
  • Select My Account to bring you to your My Profile page.
  • In your Profile Details module, select the Storage Usage tab. Your storage usage statistics will be displayed including your storage available and the storage you are currently using.

Clean up storage space:

  • Download your media files to local storage, and delete them from the YuJa server. They may be uploaded again when needed.
