UND offers a wide range of technologies for teaching and learning to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students. The Instructional Design and Digital Learning office helps to connect faculty with the appropriate technology tools to promote collaboration, enhance communication, and share knowledge for both online and traditional instruction.

Blackboard

Blackboard is UND's Learning Management System connecting students, faculty and staff both inside and outside of the classroom. It is used for courses, organizations, committees, departments and groups.

Creating Digital Presentations

Digital video can be a highly effective educational tool when integrated into traditional, blended and online courses. Capturing a lecture in the classroom provides students with access to review content outside of class. Lesson demonstrations, student presentations, video feedback and study guides are several ways digital video can be used to promote student engagement. Products available at UND and explored in this section include PowerPoint, VoiceThread and YuJa.

Research & Surveys

UND offers several solutions for aiding faculty, staff, and students with research, including statistical and survey support. Below you will find information on Qualtrics, and SPSS.

Online Tutoring & Training

UND offers Hoonuit (formerly Atomic Learning) and to students, faculty, and staff to use as a source of online training and video tutorials. Smarthinking is also available as a tutoring service for UND students.

Proctoring (UND Proctoring System)

Information regarding proctored exams, including test taking tips, policies, how to designate, proctor's steps, and basic troubleshooting.

Online Collaboration/Meetings

UND offers multiple online collaboration and meetings tools that allow users to see, hear, and interact with one another in real-time. Some of these solutions, such as Zoom and Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, may be leveraged into offering an online course environment that matches many of the learning objectives of traditional face-to-face classroom settings.

GradeScope

GradeScope (formerly GradeHub) is a cloud-based Blackboard add-on which works similar to Scantron that can check and grade multiple choice questions. Additionally, GradeScope offers mass grading and report generation for its grading system.

Digital Badging

ND’s digital badging initiative is part of a growing trend in higher education for professional development. Digital badging, a form of alternative credentialing, provides evidence that earners have attended, participated in, or otherwise completed specific criteria in workshops, courses, or events.
