Creating a Recording in YuJa

You can create a YuJa recording in Blackboard or directly through YuJa.  The following steps are to create a recording in YuJa. If you haven't installed YuJa, you can learn how to do that at "Download & Install the YuJa Software Station."

  1. Log in to YuJa - Go to und.yuja.com or click on the YuJa menu item in your Blackboard course.

  2. Select Create Recording (at the top of the YuJa home page). If you have not already downloaded the YuJa Software Station on your computer, you will need to do this prior to your first recording.
  3. Click the Start button. The YuJa recording software will now open. Launch the Application. A preview screen will pop up (see below). Follow the steps below to set up your capture:
    1. Title (optional) - Give the capture a title (You may wait until after recording to name the file. It will be named My Event (date) by default/until changed).
    2. Course/Location (optional) - Select which media channel (YuJa content area, often individual Blackboard course sites) to publish the recording to.
NOTE: If no courses or locations are selected, or this button is not used, the recording will be placed in the user's default content collection folder within YuJa.
    3. Video input(s) - Use your webcam or select a document camera feed to be included in the recording.
    4. Audio input(s) - Select the microphone and/or internal audio feeds that will be incorporated in the recording.
    5. Screen capture area - Designate the monitor(s) you would like to share, or select only a specific area of your screen to included in the recording.
    6. Click Start - There will be a three second countdown, then your recording will begin.

  1. While you are recording, you will see your controls in the mini action bar in the bottom-right corner of your screen. These controls allow you to quickly and easily pause or stop the recording, or you can click the YuJa icon to open the Software Station in full preview mode, and pause/stop the recording there (see above screenshot). You can also check the menu on the far-right of the action bar to see your microphone input level. YuJa Mini Action Bar
  2. Record your presentation.
  3. When you are done recording, click the stop button. The following screen will appear, and you can opt to Post Now (if you chose the option to save to a specific media channel in step 3-B, above), Save or Delete your video capture.

  1. After you save the recording, YuJa will process the file. You will receive a notification email when its complete, and you'll receive a separate email when the video's auto-captioning is done. This process may take several minutes, depending on the size of the recording.
  2. After the video has processed, it will be available in the previously selected media channel for viewing or deployment.
