Track student views in Blackboard

To view detailed usage statistics on selected content items for all enrolled users, use Statistics Tracking.

Statistics Tracking must be activated for each individual item to be tracked. To activate it click the chevron by the name of the item you want tracked and select Statistics Tracking (On/Off). This brings up a window with a radio button to change to On, then click Submit. By default the tracking is Off.

When Statistics Tracking is turned on for an item you can see the words   Enabled: Statistics Tracking   below the name of the item. Also, a report can be generated from the dropdown menu of the item by clicking View Statistics Report. Then next to Content Usage Statistics click the chevron and select Run. After a bit of a wait the Run Reports page opens. Here you can select the report format, date range (up to a maximum of 180 days) and what students to include in the report. The click Submit.

The report will open and you also get three options: Save to Content Collection, Download Report, Run a new Report. You can also save the report that was opened from within the report. The report can also be run again on the same item using different criteria.

To View Statistics Report:

  1. Go to the item and click the dropdown menu to select View Statistics Report.
  2. Click the dropdown menu to Run.
  3. Select the desired specifications.
  4. To select individual users, use Ctrl + mouse to highlight names, or use Ctrl + A to select all.
  5. Click Submit.
