In addition to playing and sharing videos, YuJa allows viewers to download media to their own device (when enabled by the video's owner).

Enable Downloads
By default, video downloads in YuJa are disabled; video owners must manually enable downloads before viewers can save content to their own device. Video downloads can be enabled for all videos within a Course Channel or just for individual videos. Once enabled, users can access a link to download the original source file (MP4) to their own devices. This allows students to view course content at any time — even without an Internet connection!
Note: Once enabled, the download link becomes available to both viewers and content owners in multiple locations: the media player, the media info menu, and as a bulk download option for content owners. For more help, see YuJa's
Downloading Media video.
Download from the Media Player
This download option is available to viewers (anyone who can watch the video), not just content owners.
- Navigate to the video you would like to download.
- Open the video directly from a link in your Blackboard Ultra course, or
- Locate it in your course’s shared YuJa channel or folder.
- Click the video title or thumbnail to open it in the YuJa media player.
- Select the Settings (gear) icon in the media player.
- If downloads are enabled, select Download Media. If this option doesn't appear, contact the media owner and ask them to enable downloads in their video settings.

- After selecting Download Media, choose how you would like to download the content:
- Audio-Only Content: Downloads just the audio (similar to a podcast).
- Audio-and-Video Content: Downloads the video with audio, as it appears in the media player.
- For recordings with more than one video stream, you will need to select which feed you would like to set as the main/larger screen. The other feed will appear as a small thumbnail in the corner of the video. It is recommended that you select the stream that contains presentation slides or on-screen text, as text can be difficult to read when displayed in the smaller thumbnail.
- Example: when downloading a recording of a classroom lecture, where one stream is a shot of the instructor and the other stream is a screen capture of the presentation slides, you may wish to select the presentation slides as the Primary stream to help to preserve the text's legibility.

- Enter the email address to which the download link should be sent, and click the Request Media button. Depending on the video’s settings, your download may begin immediately, or you will receive an email with a link to download the file in your selected format.
- Content creators may attach additional files — such as PowerPoint slides, notes, or transcripts — to their YuJa videos. Refer to YuJa’s help page for more instructions on downloading these associated resources.
Download From Manage Media
This option is available to media owners (users who uploaded or created the video).
- Navigate to the folder containing the video you would like to download.
- Open the video directly from a link in your Blackboard Ultra course, or
- Locate it in your course’s shared YuJa channel or folder.
- Hover over the video thumbnail to bring up its menu options, and select More… to open the Manage Media menu.
- In the Manage Media window, select Downloads from the menu on the left-hand side. This will bring up the download options menu.
- Choose how you would like to download content. Different options may be available, depending on the media type.
Audio/Video Download
Content may be downloaded as audio-only content or audio-and-video content.
- Audio-Only Content: Downloads just the audio (similar to a podcast).
- Audio-and-Video Content: Downloads the video with audio, as it appears in the media player.
You will need to choose whether to save the content as separate files (each video stream saved individually), or as a single combined file. For combined files, you will need to select a Primary Stream; this refers to the feed you would like to set as the main/larger screen. The other feed will appear as a small thumbnail in the corner of the video.
Additional File Types
Additional file formats may be available for download, such as:
- Download media (MP4)
- Download original (the video’s original file type, such as MP4 or MOV)
- Download SCORM 1.2 (for use with SCORM content players in Ultra)
Download Multiple Files at Once
This option is available to viewers and media owners.
- Navigate to the folder containing the videos you would like to download.
- Follow the link from your Blackboard Ultra course, or
- Locate videos in your course’s shared YuJa channel or folder.
- Select the videos you want to download.
- Click and drag to select one or more video thumbnails, or
- Select More Actions (⋯), and choose Select All from the drop-down menu.

- Selected videos will be outlined with a thin black border.
- From the More Actions (⋯) menu, select Bulk Download to open the Download Request window.
- From this window, choose which files to download.
- Check the boxes next to individual videos, or
- Click Select and choose multiple items at once (either all media or by file type/format)

- When ready, select Request Media. YuJa will process the files and prepare them for download. Once processing is complete, you will receive an email with a link to download the video files.
- For recordings containing more than one video stream, you will be prompted to choose how the files should be downloaded.
- Separate files: Each stream is saved as its own file: one file containing the webcam video and microphone audio and one file containing the desktop or screen capture with internal computer audio. You may select which one you would like to occupy the larger/main part of the display; this will be your Primary Stream. The other, unselected stream will appear as a smaller, picture-in-picture window in the corner.
- Single (combined) file: The streams will be overlaid in one video file, and the main display will be selected automatically.
Download to a Mobile Device
You can also download videos and other media directly to your phone or tablet using the YuJa mobile app (available for iOS and Android). Save videos to watch later — even when you don't have an Internet connection! To reduce cellular data usage, you can change the app settings to only allow downloads when connected to Wi-Fi.
For more information on using the app to download media to your mobile device, please see the help page for the
YuJa Video Mobile App.
