ProctorU: Account Creation + How to Sign In

To improve security and streamline the login process, UND has enabled SSO (Single Sign On) for all ProctorU accounts. This will allow your login session to pass between different systems — for example, you can sign in to Blackboard, and other services like ProctorU will automatically recognize you. This allows users to sign in once to access all of the SSO-compatible websites. Note: You will need to sign in again after a period of inactivity, or when your session expires.

If this is your first time using SSO + ProctorU:

  1. You will need to set your account up before you can log in. To do that, please open the ProctorU Single Sign On page.
  2. On the NDUS sign in screen, enter the same username and password that you use for Blackboard; just your firstname.lastname without '@ndus.edu' at the end.
  3. Then click Sign in.
    • If you have an older ProctorU account that was created before we started using Single Sign On, you may need to update a few details associated with your account. The first time you sign in, you will be prompted with the question 'Do you have a ProctorU account already?' To answer:
      • If you do have ProctorU account, or if you have used ProctorU at UND in the past: Click 'Yes', and you will be prompted to sign in with your current ProctorU username and password. If ProctorU is able to match your email with an existing account, your accounts will be joined automatically. If not, a new account will be created.
      • If you do not have a ProctorU account, have not used ProctorU at UND before, or if you do not know your username/password: Click 'No' and a new account will be created for you.
    • If you have never used ProctorU at UND, or if you do not have an account, follow the prompts to create one.
  • IMPORTANT: Once signed in, your account will be created and you will be prompted to fill in your address, phone number, and other details. Do NOT change the email address that pre-fills for your account. If you change the email address listed here, ProctorU will not associate you with the correct Blackboard account.
  1. You should now be signed into your ProctorU account and the ProctorU extension.

If you have already used SSO + ProctorU:

Option 1: Sign in to ProctorU using a direct link

  1. Log in to Blackboard first to avoid problems with your account(s) matching. Make sure that you are going to 'blackboard.und.edu', not the NDUS version.
  2. In your browser, open a second tab and go to the ProctorU Single Sign On page.
    • If you are currently signed into Blackboard, you should automatically pass through to ProctorU without being asked to sign in again. We recommend signing in to Bb before opening the ProctorU sign in page, just to avoid common account access problems.
    • If prompted with the NDUS Sign in screen, enter the same username and password that you use for Blackboard; just your firstname.lastname without '@ndus.edu' at the end, and click Sign in.
  3. You should now be signed into your ProctorU account and the ProctorU extension.

Option 2: Sign in to ProctorU using the link provided in your Bb course

  1. Log in to Blackboard first to avoid problems with your account(s) matching. Make sure that you are going to 'blackboard.und.edu', not the NDUS version.
  2. In Blackboard, open the desired course.
  3. In the menu on the left, under 'Exams', click the 'ProctorU Single Sign-On' link.
    • If you are currently signed into Blackboard, you should automatically pass through to ProctorU without being asked to sign in again. We recommend signing in to Bb before opening the ProctorU sign in page, just to avoid common account access problems.
    • If prompted with the NDUS Sign in screen, enter the same username and password that you use for Blackboard (just your firstname.lastname without '@ndus.edu' at the end) and click Sign in.
  4. You should now be signed into your ProctorU account and the ProctorU extension.
