Log into Starfish

Starfish Retention Solutions is a system which assists with student retention, by identifying risk factors and connecting students with resources and support to help students achieve their academic goals.

When can students access Starfish?

  • New incoming students will have access to Starfish once they are matriculated (once they are able to register for classes).
  • Returning students who have been away for more than 3 semesters will have access once they are enrolled in courses.
  • If the above conditions have been met, and the student still doesn't have Starfish access, have them contact shari.nelson@und.edu

How do I access Starfish?

You will log in to Starfish using your NDUS.Identifier (ex: jane.doe@NDUS.edu) username and password (same as used for Campus Connection and Blackboard).

Steps to complete surveys in Starfish.
If you are trying to schedule an appointment with your adviser through Starfish and receive an error: "Online appointments are not available" then that indicates your adviser is not using the Starfish system.

In this instance, please email or call your adviser.
As advisors, Starfish currently sends you an immediate notification email when one of your students receives 3-5 flags, 6+ flags, or an Early Alert No Show flag in a course. You will now also be receiving a daily summary/digest email with the specifics of any course flags raised the previous day for all of your students. (This will make it easier to note the details about flags without logging into Starfish.)
In order for your Outlook calendar to sync with your Starfish calendar, the UND Starfish account must have access to your Outlook calendar and mailbox.  Submit a ticket to University IT and in this ticket, give permission to allow Starfish and Outlook to read each other. You can still use the Starfish calendar without this access; however, without it, your Starfish and Outlook calendars won’t sync with each other.
