First Sign In for a New or Reimaged Computer

Info! Only the assigned user can sign into their issued laptop. If the steps below are not followed for first sign in, the user will get an error preventing them from using the machine.
  1. Newly imaged UND laptops require special steps to get signed into for the first time. This includes newly purchased, and re-imaged laptops. When you first boot the computer, you might see a password field for the Administrator, or another UIT staff member who last worked on your machine.

  2. Click Other User in the lower-left of the screen.

  3. Click the globe icon in the lower-right of the screen.

  4. From the available WiFi networks, select either UND Protected or your home WiFi network name. When prompted, enter the proper credentials. For UND Protected, you will need to enter your first.last and usual password.

  5. If you're on campus and connected to UND Protected, skip to step 7. If you're connecting from off campus, continue with the following.

Once WiFi is connected, click the "two-monitor" icon. If the icon is missing, please submit a quick ticketUploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  6. In the window with the North Dakota University System logo, enter your usual first.last and password credentials. In the next window, verify with DUO Multifactor Authentication. Once you see the "connected" message under the GlobalProtect icon, click BackUploaded Image (Thumbnail)Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. Type your usual first.last and password credentials into the "Other user" screen. It will take several minutes to fully sign in for the first time, but after that, you won't have to connect to either WiFi or VPN before signing in unless you change your NDUS password.
