Zoom Health License (HIPAA Compliant)

What is Zoom Health Licensing?

The Zoom Health License can be applied to a UND Zoom account and modifies the account to enforce advanced security settings to ensure that any Zoom sessions that the license holder creates and hosts will be either meeting or exceeding HIPAA security guidelines.  These settings already exist within Zoom, Zoom Health just ensures that they are always on for all created sessions.  Such features include the removal of cloud recording access, and enhanced end-to-end encryption settings.  Any user who schedules meetings on your behalf will also be required to have the Zoom Health License in order for the scheduling function to continue to operate as normal.  See the Zoom HIPAA Business Associate Agreement for more information on settings that are affected.  Below are highlights of account changes.

  • Features Enabled
    1. The setting Require Encryption for 3rd Party Endpoints (H323/SIP) will be enabled.
    2. Cloud Recording will be disabled.
    3. Remove device/user information in logging and reporting.
    4. Encrypted Chat will be enabled.
  • Encrypted Chat Features
    1. Text messages will be encrypted.
    2. Offline messages will only be available after all parties initiate a key exchange.
    3. Disable screen capture.
    4. Disable sending images.

What do I need to do?

  1. Submit the Zoom Health License Request (HIPAA Compliant).  When your request has been completed, you will be notified and then you can go to step 2.
  2. When you login to https://und.zoom.us, you will be told that you are being added to a new account. You can either continue with the und.zoom.us main account or switch to the new account (HIPAA).
  3. Select Switch to new account to be sent a confirmation email and click the Switch to new account button.
  4. You will be taken to the UND Zoom login page. Use your normal Zoom login (firstname.lastname) and password.
  5. You will then be put into the Zoom HIPAA account.

How do I remove the HIPAA Compliant account?

In order to switch back to the main UND Zoom account, Submit a ticket request to be removed from the NDUS Active Directory Zoom HIPAA group.
