Info! This article does
not apply to the "Create agent" feature in the Teams or Microsoft 365 Copilot apps. It only applies to custom Copilot Studio agents created on
copilotstudio.microsoft.com. If you cannot access that page with your existing UND/NDUS credentials, its because your account lacks the required license. Talk to your department software coordinator or UIT if you're interested in getting one.
Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot Studio license have access to the full-featured browser-based Copilot Studio, a powerful way to create custom Copilot agents. Once created and published to the "Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot" channel, creators can choose to share their agents with specific people or groups at UND and across the ND University System. Follow the steps below to share, add, use, and remove custom Copilot Studio agents. Learn more about different tools you can use to build custom agents.
SHARE A CUSTOM COPILOT STUDIO AGENT TO OTHERS
- From copilotstudio.microsoft.com, select the "Agents" icon from the left-side column.

- Select the name of the custom agent you would like to share.
- From the agent configuration page, select the "Channels" tab at the top of the page.

- Under the "Microsoft channels" section, select the box labelled "Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot".

- In the slide-out titled "Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot", select the "Add channel" button in the lower-right.

- From the same slide-out, select the "Availability options" button from the "Agent preview" section beneath the agent icon and name.

- Under the "Get a link" section at the top of the slide-out, select the link titled "Manage sharing".

- In the dialogue titled "Share 'Example Agent Name'",
- under the "New Users" section, enter the group names, full names, or email addresses of individuals in the UND/NDUS system with whom you want to share your agent.
- As you add users and groups, you can set their level of access. By default anyone you add will get "Viewer" access, meaning they can use the agent as intended. If the "Editor" box is checked, the user will have rights to view, edit, configure, share, and publish the agent but not delete it.
- Once you've added all the desired names, select the "Update" button in the lower-right.
- Once you see the message saying "Successfully changed the sharing settings for your agent" at the top of the dialogue, you can close it with the X icon in the top-right corner.
- Note: As owner of the agent, you can always come back and change who has access to your agent.

- The "Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot" slide-out will close automatically. Open it again as directed above in step 4. Then select the "Availability options" button again as directed above in step 6.
- Select the "Copy link" button under the "Get a link" section of the slide-out, then close the dialogue with the "X" icon in the top right of the dialogue.

ADDING A CUSTOM COPILOT STUDIO AGENT WITH A SHARED LINK
-
With the link you copied in the previous section, or were given by the agent creator, paste it into the URL bar of your web browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc). If you're not already logged in to your UND/NDUS Microsoft account, do so now.
-
Your browser will ask if you want to allow the link to be opened with your Teams desktop application. Select "Yes" or "Open Link", depending on which browser you use.
-
If Teams doesn't open, select "Use the web app instead"

- When the dialogue presenting the agent's icon, name, and info comes up, review the information, and once you're sure you want to add it to Teams, select the "Open" or "Add" button depending on if you're using the Teams desktop app, or the web version.

- Once you see the screen confirming the agent has been added successfully, select "Open with Copilot".
Warning! If you select the "Open" button, or later select the agent from left-side Teams side-bar, the agent will not respond as intended. This is due to security restrictions enforced at the NDUS level.
