Known issue: Instructors are automatically added to courses in Simple Syllabus, but they are not automatically removed. This means that instructors who were previously listed for courses may not be removed from syllabi in Simple Syllabus, even after they have been removed from the course in Blackboard and Campus Connection. These instructors may retain edit access to the syllabus, even though a new instructor has been assigned to that class. Depending on their role, users may access two solutions: hide and remove.
Instructors - How to Hide an Extra Instructor
For steps you can share with instructors, please see our Knowledge Base Article (summary below).
- Option 1: Log in to Simple Syllabus, enter Edit mode for the desired syllabus, click the pencil icon to the left of the other instructor’s profile information, then click the Hide button below to remove the instructor from view. Note: This will allow the new instructor to publish their syllabus without the previous instructor's contact information, but it does not remove the syllabus from the previous instructor’s profile.
- Option 2: We encourage current instructors to reach out via email, so we can fully remove any extra instructors from their course roster. Please see instructions below.
Admins - How to Remove an Extra Instructor
Only Simple Syllabus administrators (Academic Tech group) can fully delete outdated listings from the course roster.
- Log in to Simple Syllabus, then click Admin (in the top-right menu) > Curriculum.
- On the next page, you can use the menus and filters to find the desired course (use the Sections tab to search by 5-digit course number). To the left of the course's listing, click Edit.
- On the next page, open the Roles tab, locate the desired user, and click the trash bin icon found to the left of their listing. This will completely remove the user from this course.
- The desired user has been removed from the course listing and its syllabus!
