While the University may assign an IT Asset to a faculty, staff member or public area for academic or administrative use, the IT Asset remains the property of the University throughout its life-cycle, from initial acquisition to provisioning to the end of its useful life. Effective asset management and control allows UND to reduce spending, eliminate wasteful hardware and software, protect confidential information, and improve security. Accurate data will lead to better business decision-making across UND.All information technology assets owned by the University of North Dakota will be governed by this policy for life-cycle management of IT assets.
