Summary
The Zoom-Outlook Integration allows users to add meetings and manage their calendar, all without leaving Outlook. There are two types of integration: the Zoom 'Plugin' and the Zoom 'Add-In'. Both types function similarly, but Zoom recommends the 'Add-In' version for better security and more robust deployment/management.
Body
The Zoom-Outlook integration allows you to schedule and manage Zoom meetings without leaving your Outlook inbox. It is compatible with both the desktop and the web version of Outlook, and may be installed on Mac and PC. Please see Zoom's help page for more information about how you can install and use the Outlook Add-In (desktop and web). Previously, users needed to install the calendar tool separately, but it is now included as a part of the Add-In. It will be pushed out to UND-owned machines and automatically (similar to the way that PhishNotify is installed in Outlook).
Comparison: Add-In vs Plugin
Zoom offers two types of Outlook integration: the Zoom Add-In and the Zoom Plugin. Both allow users to add a Zoom meeting to their Outlook calendar event — but only the Add-In version of the integration is actively being supported by Microsoft, and it better meets Apple's new enhanced security requirements. For more information about that and other differences, please see Zoom's comparison page. To ensure that users have the best experience while adhering to policies and guidelines set by Apple and Microsoft, Zoom highly recommends that any Plugin users uninstall and migrate to the Add-In.
