GlobalProtect VPN for Android and Chrome OS Devices

Through the GlobalProtect VPN (Virtual Private Network), users with UND credentials are given remote access to specific systems hosted on UND networks. Systems accessible via VPN may include shared-drive network file storage, document management systems, and remote desktops.


Install the GlobalProtect VPN Client on Android & Chrome OS Devices

Before you can connect your device to the GlobalProtect network, you must download and install the app from the Google Play store. When using a Chrome OS device, verify it can run Android apps and has the Google Play store available in settings.

  1. Launch Google Play.

  2. Search for GlobalProtect

  3. From the search results, select GlobalProtect.

  4. From the GlobalProtect app product page, tap Install.

  5. When prompted, review and Accept the information for which GlobalProtect needs access.


Use GlobalProtect for Android & Chrome OS

  1. Launch the GlobalProtect app.

  2. Enter the UND GlobalProtect portal address, ( vpn.und.edu ) then tap Connect.

  3. When prompted, enter and submit your user.name credentials, and verify your login attempt through the Duo 2FA prompt.

  4. When the Connection request message appears, tap OK to allow GlobalProtect to set up a VPN connection on your device.

  5. Once verified, the screen will read, CONNECTED and TAP TO DISCONNECT.

  6. You can exit the GlobalProtect app and the connection will stay active while you use the device.


Enable the Google Play Store App on Your Chrome OS Device

  1. If your Chromebook is running Chrome OS version 52 or earlier, update your Chromebook operating system.

  2. From your Chromebook, click your account photo at the bottom right corner of the screen.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. In the Google Play Store area, Enable Google Play Store on your Chromebook. If this option is not available, your Chromebook does not support Android apps.

  5. When prompted, click Get Started to launch the Google Play Store.

  6. Agree to the Terms of Service.

  7. On the Welcome page, SIGN IN to the Google Play Store.

  8. Accept the Google Play Terms of Service.

  9. Follow the instructions above to install GlobalProtect.
