UND Phishing Simulation Email

 

You have been phished.
Unfortunately, you clicked a link in a suspicious email. The good news is it was only a phishing simulation sent by UND and your device and information are secure. Please review the following information to keep you safe. 

What is Phishing?

Phishing is when criminals use fake emails to lure you into clicking on them and handing over your personal information, or installing malware on your device. It’s easy to avoid a scam email, but only once you know what to look for. There has been an increase in phishing, fraud, and scam emails. Fake job postings, Mailbox storage is full,  change or expired password, etc., come as unsolicited emails sent directly to your account or through an online job listing sites. We advise students, faculty, and staff to avoid being scam victims by following these guidelines.

 

Recognize a Phishing Email

Phishing email messages, websites, and phone calls are designed to steal money. Cyber-criminals can do this by installing malicious software on your computer or stealing personal information from your computer. More often than not, phishing messages follow a standard framework that can be easy to spot if you know what to look for. Here's a look at the anatomy of a typical phishing email:

 

Report a Phishing Email

Outlook Desktop Client

To report a phishing email in the desktop Outlook client, click the Home section of the toolbar and select the fish icon on the far right.

To report a phishing email while using Outlook desktop client for PC and Mac, or the Outlook Web App click on the fish icon in the ribbon.


Outlook Web App 

To report a phishing email in the Outlook Web App, click on the message options menu (three dots), then click the fish icon in the pop-up window. 

To report a phishing email while using Outlook desktop client for PC and Mac, or the Outlook Web App click on the fish icon in the ribbon.


Outlook Mobile App 

To report a phishing email while using Outlook Mobile App for iOS and Android devices, click on the message options menu (three dots), then click the fish icon in the pop-up window.

   To report a phishing email while using Outlook Mobile App for iOS and Android devices click on the message options menu (three dots), then click the fish icon in the pop-up window.


Other Email Clients

To report a phishing email while using all other email clients, forward the phishing email to UND Security Team: phishing@ndus.edu
