Submit an assignment

Summary

Steps to submit your Blackboard assignments.

Body

Many assignments only allow one attempt. Before you click Submit, confirm that you have attached all of the required files.
Note: Some assignments may allow for multiple attempts. Please see the assignment's instructions for more information.

  1. Access the assignment. Log in to Blackboard, open your course, and locate the assignment. Click on the assignment's title to open the Upload Assignment page. Here, you can review the instructions, due date, and points possible. If your instructor has provided any documents that must be used to complete the assignment, they may be available to download here. If your instructor has added a rubric for grading, you can view it here, as well.
  2. There are two options for submitting an assignment: Upload a file that you created in Word or another application (PDF, DOC, DOCX, etc.) into Blackboard -or- type/paste your submission's text into Blackboard's built-in text editor. Many instructors prefer that you upload a file, as this preserves all of the document's formatting and page structure. To do that, select Upload Files, then click Browse Local Files to find the document on your computer. Select the document, then click Open. The file will start to upload to Blackboard — you will see its title listed in the Upload Files section of this page.

Alternatively, to type/paste in your submission, click Create Submission to expand that area. Then, in the text box, add your text and use the functions in the editor to format it as needed.
  3. Optionally, add Comments about your submission.
  4. Scroll down and click the Submit button (in the bottom-right).
  5. The Review Submission History page will appear. This includes a success message, along with information about your submitted assignment and a confirmation number. For assignments that allow for multiple attempts, you will receive a different number for each submission. You will also receive an email with your confirmation number and details each time you submit coursework.
