Through Microsoft's Azure for Students program, UND students are eligible to redeem free license keys for Windows Education Edition, as well as various other Microsoft applications that would normally need to be purchased.
Azure for Students provides access to several Microsoft products that are expressly intended to support education or teaching, non-commercial research, or efforts to design, develop, test, and demonstrate software applications for these purposes. Students download the tools from the Azure Education Hub.
More info on the Azure for Students program can be found here.
Follow the steps below to redeem a Windows Education Edition license.
If you are asked to sign in, enter your user.name@ndus.edu credentials.
Search or scroll through the list until you find Windows 11 Education, or any other application/operating system you would like to try. For Windows, select at least the version 23H2. Disregard the "N" version unless you prefer a multilingual installation.
Some other software available includes Project Professional, Visio Professional, and Windows Server.
Once you've selected the software version you want from the list, a description with license key info and a link to download the installer will slide-out from the right side of the window.
Select the View Key button to reveal your personal license key for that product. Take note of the key and save it in a safe place for future reference.
