Blackboard - Known Issue & Solution

Blackboard Text Editor Error - Check Browser Version

Users running an outdated version of Chrome or Firefox (or an unsupported browser such as Brave) may experience problems with Blackboard's text editor. For instructors, errors may occur while creating or saving questions in the Visual Text Box Editor. Students may have problems with essay questions, and typed answers may fail to save. Please follow the links below to check your browser and install the latest version, then use the browser checker to confirm that it is fully compatible.

  • If you are using a browser other than Firefox or Chrome, please download and install the latest version of either for optimal functionality. Other browsers, like Edge or Safari, may pass the browser checker, but we have found that they are not fully compatible and may cause problems with Blackboard and its plug-ins.
