Ending Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Mobile Activation for Windows Phone 8.0

Based on decreasing use of Windows Phone devices and depreciation of Microsoft support available for the platform, Duo is removing the option to activate or reactivate Duo Mobile on Windows Phone (8.0 and lower) devices starting September 3, 2018. This end of activation will not affect mobile app authentications for users who have already downloaded and activated the app, nor will it have any effect on Windows Phone 8.1 or Windows Phone 10.x users.

Beginning January 1, 2019, Duo will also end support for the Duo Mobile app on all Windows Phone 10.x and 8.x devices. Neither the 8.0 and lower “end of activation” milestone or 10.x and 8.x “end of support” milestone will affect authentication from our Windows Phone application; Push and app-generated passcode authentications will continue to function on installed apps.

Please note that SMS-delivered passcodes and phone callback authentication do not rely on the Duo Mobile app, and Duo will continue to support these types of authentication for Windows Phone devices with or without the app.
