What is Office 365?

Your Office 365 account is loaded with features and programs. This tutorial will only show some of the more popular and basic features of your new Office 365 online account, including email, Office online, Calendar, and OneDrive.

Logging In

  1. The email login page is: http://mail.office365.comYour username is your NDUS.identifier and @NDUS.edu.
  • This is only used for logging into your email. The address other people will email you to will be your NDUS.identifier@UND.edu.
  •  As a student, your email password is the same password that you use for Campus Connection and Blackboard.

  1. Once you are signed in, you can navigate between Office 365 apps from the default page or app menu in the top right of the window.

Outlook Mail

  1. Click the Outlook app from the menu. This will open the standard Outlook mail view.
  • Your mail folders are located on the left.
  • New emails can be found in your Inbox.

Delete Email

  1. To delete a single email, hover the message and click the trash can icon.
  2. To delete multiple emails at once, again hover over the email. 
  3. A checkbox will appear.
  4. Place a check next to each email you want to delete and from the top menu, select Delete.

Send Mail

  1. To send a new email, select the + New in the top menu.
  2. You can type in the To field, or click the To button to select from your Contacts.
  3. Type in a Subject and then your message. 
  4. You can add attachments from the top menu as well.
  5. When your message is composed, click Send.

Office Online

You can now use Office products online. These online apps work rather like Google Documents-completely online and shareable for easy collaboration.

To access them, click the app menu in the top left and select the Office product you want to use, like Word.

Calendar

One of the Office 365 products available from the app menu is Calendar. Your calendar is synced with your other Office 365 apps. So if you accept a meeting appointment from your advisor, it will show in your calendar.

  1. You can add a new appointment by clicking the +New in the top menu and filling out the appointment information.
  2. There are also options to add and share calendars with the Add Calendar and Share selections in the top menu.  

OneDrive for Business

Did you know you have 1 TB of file storage at your disposal with Office 365? Like other cloud storage services, OneDrive lets you upload, organize, and share files and folders all from your Office 365 account.

You can access your cloud storage by selecting OneDrive from the app menu.

Install Office 365

Your Office 365 account also lets you install your favorite Office programs onto your desktop.

  1. From the Microsoft 365 home page select Install Office apps.

  2. Select Office 365 apps to begin the installation.

  3. Depending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox). If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes. The install begins.

  4. Your install is finished when you see the phrase, You're all set! Office is installed now and an animation plays to show you where to find Office applications on your computer. Select Close.
