Info! Spirion software will be automatically installed on all UND-owned machines. This installation will not require any interaction from you. If Spirion software is not installed on your pc, please contact the University IT.
Create a password
Spirion may ask you to create a password, which is necessary if you want to save your computer‘s sensitive data scan results to review at a later time.
Info! This should be a secure password, but does not need to match your NDUS credentials.
Initial scan
- Once installed, an initial scan will begin automatically. You may notice a brief Starting Search dialog box pop up in the lower-right corner of your screen.
- This scan is scheduled to automatically run weekly, but eventually may occur less frequently once the sensitive data footprint is adequately reduced.
- Depending on your computer’s processing speed and the amount of data on your hard drive, the first scan should complete in less than an hour.
- If you have a usb removable flash drive plugged in, it will be scanned.
- When the scan finishes, you will see a Search Completed notification.
