How do I log into VPN with Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Starting on June 9, 2020 the Cisco AnyConnect VPN will require authentication with Duo MFA. Users will see an additional password field called DUO Passcode. There are 3 ways to use Duo MFA to authenticate a VPN session.

How to log into VPN with Duo MFA

  1. Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
  2. The login windows will appear. If prompted, enter undvpn.und.edu for the VPN server.
  • If you are logging into HRMS Employee Self Service to print W-2s, type: ndusvpn.ndus.edu for the server instead.

  1.  Select your group from the drop down menu, usually UND
  2. Enter your NDUS credentials and authenticate with Duo MFA.

Username: This is your NDUS username. It is usually firstname.lastname. The same information you use to log into Campus Connection and HRMS.

Password: This is your NDUS password. The same information you use to log into Campus Connection and HRMS.

Duo Passcode: Type PUSH, PHONE, or SMS to authenticate with Duo MFA.

Enter your NDUS credentials and authenticate with Duo MFA.

  1. Click OK to connect. The status will then change to Connected to.

Ways to authenticate in VPN:

If you have a Yubikey Token, you can click into the passcode entry field and tap the Yubikey to generate and submit a passcode.

PUSH

Push a login request to your phone (if you have Duo Mobile installed and activated on your iOS, Android, or Windows Phone device). Just review the request and tap Approve to log in.

PHONE

Authenticate via phone call back.

SMS

Get a new batch of SMS passcodes. Your login attempt will fail — log in again with one of your new passcodes.
