Body
Audience response systems (clickers) allow students in the classroom to instantly provide feedback, answer questions, vote, and participate in polls. Using a clicker or audience response system can significantly change classroom interaction by enabling instructors to assess students' knowledge, keep their attention, provide immediate feedback, and encourage all students to participate. Echo360 PointSolutions (previously known as TurningPoint) platform has been adopted as the audience-response standard by the University of North Dakota.
For interactions that use Echo360 PointSolutions, students may respond by using a 'clicker' (a handheld device that allows them to vote or make a selection by pressing a button), or via the TurningPoint mobile app (which may be installed on a web-enabled device such as a cell phone, laptop or tablet). For courses that are using TurningPoint, students must create an account and purchase a TurningPoint license code. A paid license/code is required, regardless of which device is used.
Information for Students
Device Options
Students may have two options for using the Turning Technologies audience response system in their class: purchase a clicker (a specialized remote-like device that allows them to respond) or use their own mobile device with Turning's app.
PointSolutions for mobile allows students to use a web-enabled cell phone, laptop, tablet, or mobile device. Please check with the instructor or refer to the course syllabus to determine whether or not this option is allowed. TurningPoint's mobile app is free to download from the Apple and Android app stores. While the app is free, a purchased license code is required to participate in class. See the following sections for information on how to purchase and activate a license code.
