Exempt a grade

Summary

Students can be Exempted from a grade from the Grade Center or the Grade Details page. Exempted grades are not added into any statistical or total grade calculations, Blackboard treats it like they were never assigned that assignment.

Students can be Exempted from a grade from the Grade Center or the Grade Details page. Exempted grades are not added into any statistical or total grade calculations, Blackboard treats it like they were never assigned that assignment. 

Exempted grade displays an Exempted icon in the cell.

Grade details

Comments can be added to any exempted grade. 

1. To Exempt a grade, point to the desired cell, click the chevron, and select Exempt Grade

2. To Add a Comment, point to the desired cell, click the chevron, and select Quick Comment

3. To Clear the Exemption and go back to the previous score, click the chevron and select Clear Exemption.

4. If the assignment to be Exempted never had a submission or a grade you can still Exempt it the same way, but to add comments you must go to the Manual Override screen under View Grade Details.
