Body

The University of North Dakota recently signed a contract with Honorlock, a leading remote proctoring solution.  Honorlock was selected as the top vendor after a formal review of proctoring vendors as part of UND Procurement’s Request For Proposal (RFP) process.  The RFP review committee included UND faculty, staff, and students.

Honorlock uses Live Pop-in™ technology, combining AI (Artificial Intelligence) with live remote proctors.  Students can start an exam at any time without needing to schedule a time with a proctor.  The Blackboard integration will automatically enter the exam password (hidden from the student) when the student begins the exam.  Honorlock will monitor the live proctoring session and create a recording for instructors to review later.  As Honorlock’s AI identifies potential exam integrity issues, an Honorlock proctor will check in to monitor the session more closely.  If necessary, the proctor will join the session and ask the student to remove all unpermitted resources or stop the prohibited behavior.

A few things to note:

  • Honorlock is available and ready to use for the Fall 2024 Semester in both Blackboard Ultra and Blackboard Original courses. Our contract is for an unlimited number of exams.
  • ProctorU will continue to be available for the fall semester as we transition to Honorlock.  We are contracted for a limited number of ProctorU exams and if we exceed that number, there could be additional costs to the colleges.
  • Honorlock uses a Chrome extension that students can install and use within the Google Chrome browser.
