Simple Syllabus is an online syllabus creation, management, and sharing tool that enables instructors to create syllabi for each of their courses quickly, building on a basic, department-specific template. Instructors can edit the provided fields to include information relevant to their class, and create their own custom snippets that may be reused across multiple courses' syllabi.
How to Create & Share Your Syllabus
Access Simple Syllabus
To start working on your syllabus, log in via your Blackboard course or the Simple Syllabus website:
- Blackboard: Log in to Blackboard, navigate to a specific course and click on the Books and Tools menu. Select Simple Syllabus to begin editing your syllabus.
- Website: On the Simple Syllabus-UND website, sign in with your NDUS identifier (ex: jane.doe@ndus.edu). Click the edit icon on your syllabus to begin editing.
Transfer Content into Simple Syllabus
Simple Syllabus allows instructors to add content in two simple ways:
- Type content directly into the component boxes.
- Copy and paste relevant information into the component boxes.
Simple Syllabus supports text, images, videos, and hyperlinks.
Editing Tips & Information
- While editing, required components will be outlined in orange and “required” will be visible at the bottom of the component. The component must have content in order for the syllabus to be submitted.
- Make any section not being used invisible.
- When editing a syllabus, all changes will be automatically saved. The syllabus will not be live until the publishing process is initiated.
- Help text has been included on the right side of the syllabus to assist during the editing process for completing a specific component.
Frequently Asked Questions
- “When I try to login to view my syllabi, it says "we cannot find a matching account to complete this request or Account not found.”
- Your account information (email, ID number, etc.) may not be correct in Simple or your enrollment may have had an issue during the file import, so please contact TTaDA or reach out or our support team at support@simplesyllabus.com.
- “I can’t submit my syllabus because the submit button is grayed out.”
- If the submit button is grayed out, review your syllabus and ensure all required fields have been completed, otherwise you will be unable to submit. Required components will be outlined in orange and “required” will be visible at the bottom of the component.
