General information
UND students, faculty, and staff can borrow, or check out, a laptop from the Service Desk on the lower level of the Chester Fritz library during normal business hours for no fee or cost. Devices can be borrowed for 30 day periods, and extended at the end of 30 days as long as the borrower brings the device in to be inspected before the extension is granted. No device can be kept longer than the current semester. Checkout laptops are not meant as a permanent solution for students without laptops.
Students usually check out laptops while their personal devices are being repaired, or they have a specific technical need for a class that their own machines don't meet.
Most Faculty and Staff may check out devices at no cost only if their department has ordered them a new device, or theirs is being repaired. (Some may also be eligible for a checkout in special cases like UND sponsored travel/research. Review any plans with Export Controls if travelling internationally)
- UIT equipment checkouts are only available to current UND students, staff, and faculty.
- Affiliates and Professor Emeritus are not eligible for equipment checkout.
- Identity must be verified.
- All checkouts are for 30 days and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- All equipment loans are subject to equipment availability.
