UND Network FAQ

SecureW2 

The tool ensures that users are protected against rogue wi-fi hotspots accessing usernames and passwords. This tool will only set settings for your device to work with the new UND Secured wireless network

  • You can download the Securew2 tool on cellular service by going to wifi.und.edu 

UND Open 

  • Used primarily to onboard your device to UND Secured. This network will allow the download and authentication needed to get on UND Secured. 

  • Registered devices will also use this network once approved on the network. This is because most devices will not support the authentication pieces needed for UND Secured.

  • You can also sign in to use this for a day but it will force authentication the next day.

UND Secured 

Once a device is onboarded you will see this network and be able to connect if the username and password provided are correct. This is the primary network to connect to. 

UND Guest 

This network is primarily for campus guests to use who don’t have a login to use Eduroam. 

Eduroam 

eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. 

How to do it yourself  

UND Apartments using Midco 

  • Any network issues with Midco should go diretcly through Midco. UND housing provides routers.

Residence Hall device registration

  • Smart devices and devices that don’t have a user interface need to be registered on the network before they can be used. https://und.edu/student-life/housing/resnet/device-reg.html 

  • You will need either the IP address or the MAC address of the device to complete the form.
